PBTF Grant Awardee to Run Neuro-Oncology Program at Rady Children’s Hospital

Rady Children’s Hospital - San Diego has named Dr. Robert Wechsler-Reya program director of the Joseph Clayes III Research Center for Neuro-Oncology and Genomics.

He joins Rady Children’s through an alliance with Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, where he will continue to direct the Tumor Initiation and Maintenance Program.

Dr. Wechsler-Reya is a co-primary investigator on an Opportunity grant awarded by the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. This project, co-funded by ABC2 (Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure), uses a novel technology platform to detect patterns of tumor-recognizing antibodies and identify new drug target candidates for pediatric brain cancer.

“I’m really excited about the position and hope it will give me the opportunity to improve outcomes for kids with these diseases,” Dr. Wechsler-Reya told the PBTF.
