Educational and Family Support Webinar Series
The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s webinar series seeks to alleviate the social isolation and emotional distress brain tumor families face by providing a nationwide, online community of support where families hear from experts in relevant fields and other families who have experiences similar to theirs.
These virtual events feature carefully chosen experts, provide opportunities for families to ask questions, and provide information and resources relevant to the brain tumor journey.
Navigating Social Skills Challenges After a Pediatric Brain Tumor Diagnosis: Part 2
Join the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation on Thursday, April 21, at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT, for Navigating Social Skills Challenges After a Pediatric Brain Tumor Diagnosis. This webinar will feature a presentation by Dr. Victoria Willard, Psychologist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, that builds on her first presentation in October 2021, found here: https://youtu.be/5uED4Nx1Qj4.
In part 2 of this topic, Dr. Willard will cover highlights from her first presentation and expand beyond that conversation. Participants will be able to:
- Describe the social skills challenges children face following the diagnosis of a pediatric brain tumor
- Gain an understanding of how processing delays impact social interactions between survivors and others
- Identify key practical strategies for how to cope with social skills challenges
- Explore the tools, resources, and technologies available to help survivors and families navigate these challenges
Following the presentation, we will have a Q&A session with the Dr. Willard and two parents whose children have experienced social challenges in their brain tumor journeys. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions through a text chat. This webinar is free, but you must register below to attend. A recording will be made available after the event.
