About Starry Night 8.5K
The Starry Night 8.5K walk/run supports the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s efforts to help kids fighting one of the deadliest forms of childhood cancer.
Why 8.5K? Because more than 28,000 kids in the United States are living with a brain tumor. One step for each of these Stars equals 8.5K. Not ready to run a full 8.5K? No problem! Our events also feature a shorter distance for walkers. Check your local event page for more details.
Why do we light lanterns? Starry Night participants who raise $100 or more join together in a lantern lighting ceremony to honor our Stars - children diagnosed with a brain tumor. These lantern ceremonies shed light on the 28,000 children in the U.S. living with a brain tumor by raising awareness and spreading hope. Join us and shine your light after the walk/run in your city?
How will my fundraising help? Our mission is to eliminate the challenges of childhood brain tumors. We do this by funding cutting-edge medical research and by providing support services to children and their families during their cancer journey.
