Ride for Kids events combine to top $157,000

Motorcyclists raised $157,408 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation at the Birmingham, Philadelphia and Puget Sound Ride for Kids events on Sept. 18.
Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds was the setting for the Birmingham event. More than 180 people gathered to honor brain tumor survivors Andrew F., Andrew V., Bayleigh, Faith, Javasea, Jermain, Kemaria, Krissy, Matt, Molly and Shelby, as well as eternal Stars Avery, Joshua and Lindsey.
Special thanks to guest speaker Jeff Barrett, a social worker at Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham, and event emcee Brian Peters, meteorologist at ABC 33/40.

More than 150 people attended the Philadelphia event at its new venue, the Event Center by Cornerstone in New Hope.
Riders went through historic New Hope and Solebury before returning for a program to honor local childhood brain tumor survivors Althea, Danielle, Elizabeth and John. They heard from Dr. Kristina A. Cole from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
"We’ve made tremendous progress with your help," Dr. Cole told the crowd. "We’ve had improvements in diagnoses and therapy. We’ve made progress thanks to our community to fund this critical research but there’s a lot that needs to be done...to find a cure."

Scenic Remlinger Farms in Carnation, Wash., hosted the Puget Sound Ride for Kids, which honored local brain tumor survivors Allison, Andrew, Kim, Olivia and Skyler.
More than 120 people joined the ride through rural King County before hearing from the Stars and their families.
"Because of the fundraising done by so many volunteers, my son has the chance of a brighter future," said Andrew's mom, Shawna.
