Parents and Survivors Conference
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Philadelphia in October 2014 for Childhood Brain Tumors in the Modern Era: A Conference for Parents and Survivors, held in conjunction with the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation. Videos of the presentations will be available soon.
The meeting gave families the chance to learn the latest information from clinical experts and to meet others whose lives have been affected by the diagnosis of childhood brain tumors.
- Personal experiences from parents and survivors about their brain tumor journeys
- Medical updates from clinical experts
- Breakouts for parents, survivors and a special one for fathers
- Survivor panel with Q&A
The Knab family (pictured right) took full advantage of the conference by asking medical experts questions throughout the day.
A panel of brain tumor survivors agreed that having help from others is critical. “Part of the reason I survived was because of having support,” said David Cain (to the left with fellow survivor Michael), a high school senior. He suggested that making friends who are in similar situations helps because they understand how you are feeling.
2015 conference coming to Chicago
The Philadelphia event was the first of an annual series the PBTF plans to offer for parents and survivors to come together and learn from each other.
The next Parents and Survivors Conference will be held in Chicago on Oct. 24, 2015. Medical experts will be invited to present the latest advances in research, treatment updates and psychosocial issues.
