ThankU, LLC and Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation Launch Mobile Tool to Empower Families to Share Their Story
Navigating a child's brain tumor diagnosis is a complicated journey for families, filled with fear and courage, struggle and support, loss and love. It is also only one part of these families' unique stories.
The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation has partnered with ThankU, LLC to provide an easy-to-use platform for pediatric brain tumor families to share the story of who they are, help others navigate the journey, and raise awareness and funds for a cure.
“Families facing a child’s brain tumor diagnosis live through the most difficult and intense days imaginable. Through our partnership with the ThankU app, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is empowering them to tell their stories," says Kathy Riley, MPH, CHES, PBTF's vice president of family support. "The telling of a pediatric brain tumor story is a powerful act that can help a family put words to their journey. These stories can be inspiring for others to hear. They can also be a lifeline to other families, letting them know they’re not alone.”
ThankU is a free, HIPAA-compliant app available on iOS and Android that enables anyone to securely share their stories and testimonials of gratitude through partnerships with a medical institution or nonprofit organization. The PBTF is honored to be selected as ThankU’s first national nonprofit partner.
“ThankU is thrilled to work with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation,” share ThankU’s founders Drew Schindler and Hao Tang. “We created the ThankU app to give patients and families, who are often enduring the most stressful time in their lives, an easy and secure tool to share their stories. These powerful stories may help inspire others to support the PBTF or to educate future patient families embarking on this difficult medical journey.”
The ThankU app is not only for families, but also for PBTF supporters who want to raise their voice and share their story in four simple steps:
2) Select “Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation” from the list of partner organizations.
3) Click “Tell Your Story” to record or upload a previously recorded video and/or upload up to five photos.
4) Complete a short questionnaire to tell the PBTF a little bit more about yourself and your family. You can also provide a written version of your story.
The PBTF encourages anyone touched by pediatric brain tumors to stand up and call attention to this major health crisis affecting so many families across the country. Sharing a story, a memory, or a message of hope can mean so much to a family, no matter where they are in their journey, and help them feel less alone.
