Honda Auctions First Honda Civic Type R to Benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation

Honda and have teamed up to help children and teens with brain tumors by auctioning off the very first 2017 production Honda Civic Type R.

Beginning June 7, car enthusiasts and collectors can visit to bid on Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) 01 of the fastest, most powerful U.S. production Honda of all time and the first Honda Civic Type R to be sold in America. The auction closes June 15, with all proceeds benefiting the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

“For more than 25 years, Honda has partnered with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation to stop the deadliest childhood cancer,” says Robin Boettcher, President and CEO of the PBTF. “Through its presenting sponsorship of Ride for Kids, Happy Honda Days campaigns, devoted employee volunteers and car auctions like this, Honda has been instrumental in raising awareness and funds for healthier futures.”

The Honda Civic Type R recently broke the record as the fastest front-wheel-drive production car in the world. Watch it set this record on Germany’s 12.9-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife:

“The Civic Type R has long been forbidden fruit for enthusiasts in the U.S., so we thought it would be fun to offer one lucky customer a shot at owning the first of its kind in America while benefitting the leading nonprofit solely dedicated to finding a cure for childhood brain tumors, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation,” says Jeff Conrad, Senior Vice President, Automobile Division, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., in Honda’s announcement of the auction.

The first production 2017 Honda Civic Type R is the first new vehicle to be sold on Bring a Trailer’s vintage and collector car auction site. The 2017 Civic Type R features the most powerful engine ever offered in a Honda production vehicle in America, a 306-horsepower 2.0-liter 16-valve DOHC direct-injected TURBO powerplant with i-VTEC® valvetrain mated to a short-shifting six-speed manual transmission.
